Grand Tasting in Paris 2013 ; is there a phrase more calculated to gladden the hearts of wine lovers? For the eighth successive year this prestigious show is taking place in the capital city of the greatest wine producing nation on Earth. From all regions of France gather together wine makers, connoisseurs, cellar masters and all those whose pulse quickens at the thought of the blessed grape. At the underground exhibition centre at the Carrousel du Louvre on the 6th and 7th December, you are invited to participate in the Grand Tasting. The event takes place just across the Seine from the elegant surroundings of the Hotel du Danube.

Grand Tasting in Paris 2013; a heady bouquet

French wine production can trace its history back to the 6th century B.C. and the Greek settlers in Southern Gaul. During the turbulent Middle Ages the monasteries kept the knowledge of winemaking alive to hand on to future generations. Following a difficult period for the industry, from the 1970s onwards a new breed of vignerons breathed fresh life into the French wine scene and today the nation produces some seven to eight billion bottles each year.

So when France speaks the language of wine it is fitting that the world listens. At the Grand Tasting trade show this language will be spoken most eloquently. This key event was launched in 2006 by wine experts Thierry Desseauve and Michel Bettane, whose guide books and reference works on the subject will be familiar to all those who love the grape. A series of gourmet workshops and master classes will help to further enhance the visitor’s appreciation of wine and the science of viticulture.
